PROPHETS IN NEW TESTAMENT TIMES
Prophecy in the
New Testament included prophetic words given for the benefit of the body of
believers. 1 Corinthians 14:3 But he who prophesies speaks
edification and exhortation and comfort to men. 4 He who speaks in a
tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.
Prophecy in the
New Testament also included the work of the Spirit on the Prophet whereby the
Spirit revealed to the Prophet the Word of YAHVEH.
John 16:12 I still have many things to say to you, but
you cannot bear them now. 13 “However, when He, the Spirit of
truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His
own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you
things to come. 14 “He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is
Mine and declare it to you.
Revelation 1:10 I was in the Spirit on YAHVEH’s
Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet,
4:1 After
these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And
the first voice, which I heard, was like a trumpet speaking with me,
saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after
this.” 2 Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set
in heaven, and One sat on the throne.
A
true Prophet, according to form has no diversity of vision, but an unchanging
index of scriptural works, the annunciation of Him who is the Beginning and the
End, and whom all things originate. A Prophet is not only a seer, but he is the
organ of the Divine will. Instruction in the true knowledge of Adonai, and
spreading abroad his kingdom, which is truth and love, is his only and constant
occupation; therefore he fights against error and wickedness, in order to
overcome the world.
That which is
worldly and unchangeable bigotry or sensuality, health, riches and honor in the
world, and dominion over his fellow man is not his affair. He does not preach a
present, but a future state of happiness, genuine peace in YAHVEH, and the hope
of eternal life in His presence, not from personal impulse or selfishness, or
from human considerations, but as a willing instrument of personal
enlightenment, inspired by Yahushua the Messiyah, Himself, who is a worthy
example in work and walk. The Prophet is an obedient servant and a mediator
between YAHVEH and man, between time and eternity, between heaven and earth.
Through prayer,
words and deeds, the prophet continues in a living relation with YAHVEH and his
fellow beings. True prophets do not isolate themselves; neither do they sink
into the absorbing depths of their own visions, feelings, and relations. Their
prophecies do not refer to personalities, but to the fate of individual,
congregations, nations and the world, therefore are they able in their works to
exhibit supernatural powers, strengthened by the omnipotent power of their
faith and will, and this power they exercise over their own bodies as well as over
the bodies of others and over all of nature in its wide and temporal
boundaries.
In closing the aim
of the true prophets was and still is, the revelation of the Divine Word to
man, the spreading of the Gospel of the Kingdom of YAHVEH
on this earth, and the ennobling and well-being of the human race. Impelled by
the Holy Spirit, upon whose assistance they relied on exclusively, their
efforts were and still are directed to nothing less than to spread the light of
truth and to infuse courage into their fellow-beings, to fight against evil, to
awaken mutual attention and assistance, and to extend peace and happiness among
men.
The
foundation of all their works was faith in the Power of YAHVEH, and they
fulfilled the whole sum of the commandments through love, the noblest of all
virtues, but the fruit of the spirit is love. YAHVEH gave wisdom to them that
love Him and His banner over them is love.
Blessed are you Hashem our YAHVEH King of the
Universe, who has chosen good prophets and has delighted in their words, which
were spoken in truth. Blessed are you YAHVEH our YAHVEH who has chosen the
scripture and the Five-Fold ministry as His servant and Yisrael the church and
the prophets of truth and righteousness.
