Prophet

Prophet

From the Greek word (propfhtai), "propheteia" a noun that signifies the speaking forth of the mind and counsel of YAHVEH.  The Hebrew word for prophet is xybn navee.  It is the declaration of that which cannot be known by natural means. It is the foretelling and telling forth of the will of YAHVEH, whether with reference to the past, present or future.

A proclamation of a divine message denoted among the Greeks as an interpreter of the word (roeh) a seer, indicating that the prophet is one who had immediate intercourse with YAHVEH.

I Samuel 9:9 CJB - In Yisrael, back in the old days, when someone went to consult YAHVEH, he or she would say, "come, lets go to the seer"; Because a person now called a prophet used to be called a seer.

KJV -(Formerly in Yisrael, when a man went to inquire of YAHVEH, he spoke thus: “Come, let us go to the seer”; for he who is now called a prophet was formerly called a seer). It also translates the word nabhi, meaning either one in whom the message from YAHVEH springs forth, or one to whom anything is secretly communicated,

Amos 3:7   CJB - Adonai, YAHVEH, does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.

KJV - Surely YAHVEH YAHVEH does nothing, Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.

The office of the Prophet is perhaps the least understood of all the Five-Fold ministries. But it is the one that scripture credited with the most information. The prophetic ministry is the most developed, and expressed ministries and continues to function in some churches today. Revelation insinuates clearly that a powerful prophetic ministry will be an essential part of the end time ministry.

The office of the prophet in the Mighty Hand ministry is a foundational ministry; it is one of guiding, pointing the way of the individual and the church into the sovereign will of YAHVEH, that in all things YAHVEH is glorified. In the Old Testament we find the prophets concerned with guiding Yisrael back to YAHVEH in true worship. The prophets stood against the idolatry, sexual immorality, and child sacrifice that was false worship and called the people back to true worship. YAHVEH is a jealous YAHVEH and will not tolerate false worship and the gift of the Prophet calls for true worship in Spirit and in Truth. When the woman at the well recognized the prophetic gift in Yahushua, the issue of worship became apparent in their interaction and Yahushua called her to worship in Spirit and in Truth.
